Drying Rice in Zereguhe
October 1st, 2015
Elisabeth Nadje, wife of the chief, dries a large quantity of rice. I asked her, "Why so much?" She responded, "Tom gave us the rice hulling factory which made it possible to mill such a large quantity. Now I stockpile it and don’t have to work quite so hard. In the days of mortar and pestle, we had to pound the rice every evening and we got sick a lot more."
Zereguhe is about 1 km away from Depa where we built a rice hulling factory. We are hoping to install similar machines in neighboring villages.
